**WOMEN'S HEALTH ACTIVIST BARBARA SEAMAN HAS DIED

Seaman was a friend of DES Action's going way back - to her 1977 book, "Women and the Crisis in Sex Hormones" in which she devoted the first section to DES. She joined DES Action, and others, in a sit-in at then Health Secretary Joseph Califano's office until he agreed to see them. That meeting resulted in creation of the Federal Task Force on DES. Seaman was a strong voice for women's health and against hormone use. She frequently cited the DES tragedy as an example of pharmaceutical industry malfeasance.
